Wing Chun Fight Team

Simple - Direct - Effective

hello! I am learning Wing Chun, tho I am not so coordinated so it's kind of difficult. I like watching martial arts, and so it inspired me to find one I could practice. One show that had me wanting to practice was Karma Kula Mystic Warrior. I love watching it :).

Thanks guys, any tips you have for learning?

I've never had the kind of talent to learn instantly. If you just keep at it, you will get better. And then that encourages you to get better. Not everyone is Bruce Lee. Movies are inspiring, but remember to keep it real. Practice, practice. :)

Here is a few tips for learning Wing Chun that may help as I pound these into my students head

Remember the principles, theories, concepts of Wing Chun.
ask your Sifu what they are if he/she gives you a long winded answer either they don't know them selfs or they want you to pay as long as possible.

Remember these and it will get you going a bit quicker.
1. Wing Chun is based on centerline for most this is hard to speak in words, but focus on the line that devides your body in two half left and right. I have a drill that helps you find your center quickly and to never forget but ALWAYS practice SIL LUM TAO!!

2. Wing Chun in an angular art, working off the tetrahydron most people say the triangle I tell my students a tetrahydron because we are human and are three diminsional not one or two. Plus you have to think 3 diminsional not linear.

3. No more No less that 45degrees. Your shifting, blocks or covers (as we call them), foot work all need to be within the 45 degree range i.e Tan sau, bong sau, pak sau, gong sau, jum sau, etc. this is the secret to economy of motion, energy not strength.

4. As Sifu Goss has said befor practice, practice, practice. and keep it real.

I hope this will help you in your journey
