Wing Chun Fight Team

Simple - Direct - Effective

Their is a controversy of whether WC came from the snake and crane, or from the fox and crane.

I believe that the Shaolin who developed most of the best martial arts had a good reason to study animal behavior.

Fear is common to all animals including the human animal. But, the human's brain is much more capable of imagination. So, we are the most paranoid creatures. The other animals are capable of fear, but mostly in regards to survival instinct.

I can see these instincts just by observing my cats. They seem paranoid until you understand that their behavior is from surviving attack from predators, or from attacking prey. When I make a sudden unexpected move at them, they react with instant speed. This is DMA programming. Their speed and agility is incredible instinct. Their training is from "playing."

Humans have lost contact with this programming from being domesticated so long. We return to it when we are in life threatening situations. Soldiers get it from combat, if they live long enough.

In martial arts training, this is what we are trying to get back to. Watch the animals! Not to imitate them, but to learn HOW they do things. Their fear is important to their reaction time.

Training tip:

Train with someone larger throwing punches and kicks that reach you. Learn to open you eyes wide, and focus on your WC. After you learn to control yourself with the larger person, train with a smaller one. This builds your confidence in WC.
